So...Who am I?
You might perhaps guess that my background is Polish. My family came to England just after the Second World War.
I was born in London on Christmas Day 1961 and spent part of my childhood there - although I also lived in Bedford, Doncaster, Bradford (well, actually a bit outside: in Burley in Wharfedale, near Ilkley (Moor, bar t'hat - as the song goes!), Rome (yes, Italy) and Leeds, before returning to London for 5 years.
I trained as a Psychotherapist at the Whittington Hospital in North London (the course was one of the very few in the UK to be run in an NHS setting) and have a Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapy.
I'm trained both in working with couples and with individuals on a wide range of problems, and am accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Senior Accredited status) and UKAHPP and am on the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors.
As well as seeing people from across West Yorkshire - either at my home in Burley-in-Wharfedale or at my counselling room in central Leeds, I also teach counselling at Bradford College - and supervise student counsellors from other colleges - and am a counsellor and external supervisor for Yorkshire MESMAC, working with gay and bisexual men. I also run training courses for counsellors and other professionals, with the aim of bringing the highest quality training to the North of England.
